Strength, Balance and the Sensitive Male by Shannon Garza

Strength, Balance and the Sensitive Male

Sensitive men are so strong. That may sound like a contradiction but not in this case.

It takes courage to be yourself when you are a sensitive man. It’s not looked at too kindly when it comes to men. Society labels the sensitive man as weak and emotional.

What do you do when you are labelled badly just for experiencing the world on a deeper level? Do you just let it all slide due to the fact that society hasn’t caught up yet when it comes to the value a sensitive male brings to a situation, job, or group?

How do you live fully with that label as a man? This has to be the hardest thing, to battle yourself with who you should be.

A lot of times families are not supportive of their sensitive friend, father, son, or uncle but this is simply due to the construed idea of what a man should do and not do, should be or not be. Sometimes it’s just a matter of choosing to let your sensitivity shine and work for you.

Regardless of what others may say, the sensitive trait can be a powerful tool in your life.

The yin and yang comes to mind when I consider what role sensitivity plays in the life of a man. I think there has to be a balance. A balance of strength and sensitivity for this to be a healthy trait in a man’s life.

When you can see that a situation or interaction needs a more sensitive touch then you are capable of providing that. This is a really valuable gift to have. To be able to maintain a balance is to be and have a healthy relationship with the softer sides of you.

If you dare let your sensitivity shine then you are opening yourself up for criticism, ridicule and even taunting. This is not always easy to choose. The world around you expects you to be a certain way simply based on your sex.

So to choose to go against that and allow your sensitivity to show is very courageous in this day and time. The world can be very hard on you if you’re not like everyone else. So to be yourself in this world is a brave act.

Boundaries play a big role in how you use the trait to your benefit. Expressing your wants and needs clearly. Being open about how you feel. Allowing yourself to feel the difficult emotions. Respecting your own personal views. Embracing the joy and happiness as well as the sadness and anger.

Just giving yourself permission to feel any way that you need to feel without judging yourself.

Having the HSP trait as a man is a gift. Not only do you have that strong masculine energy but you have the feminine energy to balance it out.

Strength, courage, focus; these energies are strong in men but having compassion, love and kindness in addition to this makes for a very balanced energy. Making the world a little easier to navigate.

Everyone has feminine and masculine energy. The key is to learn how to maintain a balance of those energies.

I would say it’s hard for sensitive men to balance these energies due to the stereotypical view that men should be tough and hard.

But the sensitive men who have learned to balance them are reaping the most benefit. Having a balance of both energies is the way to go. The way to get the most out of both energies and strive.

Many sensitive men have made such great progress when it comes to expressing the softer side of themselves.

They have turned that energy around and used it to improve their lives. Helping them go far in the corporate world. To help them find deep and meaningful relationships both professionally and personally. And to improve the relationships they have already established.

Have you used your sensitivity to benefit you?
